The European aluminium foil industry experienced a robust growth of 4.6% during the first nine months of 2024. According to the latest figures from the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA), total deliveries rose to nearly 666,200 tonnes (2023: 636,200 tonnes) compared to the same period last year. Notably, the third quarter saw an increase of almost 15% to 220,300 tonnes (2023: 191,900 tonnes).

After rather disappointing Q1 figures for aluminium foil production in Europe, Q2 2024 saw a welcome return to growth after a long period of decline stretching back into early 2023. Total shipments saw a strong recovery, up 6.6% on the same period in 2023, at 227,000 tonnes. While domestic deliveries into Europe recorded strong gains, exports continue to struggle, according to figures now released by the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA).

Figures for European aluminium foil deliveries in the first three months of 2024 indicate that weak demand continue to have a negative impact on volumes. Total shipments reached 217.800 tonnes, a decline of 6,2% compared with the same period in 2023, according to the figures just released by the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA).

This year, the German confectionery industry is once again presenting an impressive 167 million chocolate Father Christmases and Father Christmases for the festive season, according to a recent survey by the Federation of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI).
Total shipments of aluminium foil from European rollers declined 20,1 to 191.000 tonnes in Q3 2023 (2022: 239.000t).
